7 Stockton baseball players earn postseason honors

Barry Larro, Richard Stockton College freshman outfielder was one of seven Ospreys to achieve postseason honors from the famous New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association. Larro, top baseball player was declared Division II/III Rookie of the Year after recording a .297 batting average, 22 RBIs, 19 runs scored and eight doubles in 40 games. Junior relief pitcher John Lightbody was rewarded NJCBA Division II/III Fireman of the Year. He recorded a 4-2 baseball record with three saves, 23 strikeouts and a 3.51 ERA in 17 relief appearances. Sophomore first baseman Mike Wasco was named first-team all-state, while the senior shortstop Matt Allen, sophomore third baseman Chris Wedding and sophomore pitcher Chris LaVoie (Southern Regional) were declared to third team all-state. Freshman pitcher Gage Mick (Cumberland) was chosen to the NJCBA All-Rookie Team. Wasco had a .329 batting average with a team-high 41 runs and 37 RBIs. He also tied for most single-season walks in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with 34, which also set a fine school record.
